BACK TO SCHOOL WORKSHOP

In April, we held a workshop with secondary school-sponsored youth before they went back to school for the final term of the academic year. These termly workshops offer a great time to connect with the youth and discuss academics and social development topics with the aim of assisting the youth to achieve overall success. This time the main agenda was letter writing to donors in appreciation of the tuition support received over the last term. The youth were also reminded of the scholarship policies and shared insights on how they can excel academically.

The day began with registration, followed by individual and group photos. Each student is required to take a photo that is sent along with their letters to donors, which we believe makes a good introduction as the donors get to see the youth who is benefiting from their kind giving. The youth were then welcomed to this terms workshop with a few welcoming remarks, and the activities began with a motivational talk from a previous student of Wasambo Boys High School and a beneficiary of the tuition scholarship program.

During the motivational session, he inspired the students to work hard in academics and shared with them what worked for him during his secondary years, which helped him to excel and achieve excellent results on his final exams. He also advised the youth to consider the subjects they are good at and put more effort in studying and practicing those subjects that define their interests. The motivational talk would not be complete without reminding the youth to set goals. In conclusion, the youth were reminded to set specific goals and work towards achieving them every day of the term. At the end of the sessions, the youth took time to write letters of appreciation to donors to express gratitude for the wonderful tuition support that keeps their hope for a brighter future through education alive.
